QUB Students' Union Elections
Now that the adults have had their fun and games running for MLAs, the students from
Queen’s get to pretend they care, as they run in the union elections. This
year's gaggle (correct term) hail from many diverse areas of the student body
ranging from Law to Politics and History, and also Law.
You can get all the info and some sexy photos for these and other law students
here or you
could go just go here
and forget about the whole sorry affair.
To save you the bother of making your own mind up, we’ve decided for you, but
first let’s give a run down of some of the happenin’ peeps who are outside the
front of the Union with a tub of Chupa Chups begging for your votes:
President
CLAIRE BULLOCK -
Good to see someone from the law society finally standing as a student representative.
Also, what’s up with her scarf, it seems to be cutting the circulation off from her head.
MICHAEL COLLINS -
It’s also good to see someone sticking it to the man by walking out
of class in protest at the war – fuck yeah! That’ll show those pro-war capitalist
lecturer bastards - and send a message to Bu$h and Bliar.
ZHANG YU HUAI -
So your name is Neo... eh... and you quote Spiderman... eh... but you’re not Superman...
eh... but you look a bit foreign, so you’ve no chance.
JOHN ROGER -
Again, good to see someone from the law society stand for a change.
Deputy President
MICHAEL BLACK -
Finally a law student stands for..... oh, he’s anti war, it’s a risk, he’ll
lose some votes with the pro-war students, but then he’s clearly a man of
risk, as his almost hairy chin clearly shows.
MICHAEL CURRIE -
Him and John Roger both wear hoodies and want to get elected together so
they can have bum fun at your expense. Not that their manifesto
actually states this but it’s clearly implied.
SARAH McCAFFREY -
As someone who is coming to the end of their degree, she needs to add
something else to her CV as well as her assistant radio manager thing and
some flaky sounding shit about media advisement for Belfast fashion week,
whatever that was – didn’t hear about it in the media.
Vice President Education
GRAHAM STEVEN BARTON -
In favour of a strong union, stronger than he’s technically allowed to say, but
he does have a nice collection of badges if you know what I mean *wink*. He
also wants to represent law students, it’s about time they had a say in how
things are run.
MICHÁL HARKIN - He’s for the union, but not as strongly as yer man if you
see what we’re saying. Strong policies on recycling, particularly Assembly
election posters.
GAVIN HOWELL -
Not wearing any badges, but still quite fond of the union.
DAVID McKEOWN -
Finally a law student to run for something! Vote for him if his photo
hasn’t scared you.
We’re sure they will all do a fine job - whatever it is that they do all year.
Obviously, as an influential body of great standing in the community, we should remain
impartial... VOTE NEO!! Don’t bother with any of the other posts,
they’re pointless and won't get Carruthers to give you a question on Spotlight.
Also, if you vote in person and not online, demand that they punch a hole in your
card for old time’s sake.
If you're standing, why not email us and we'll give
you a free platform and guaranteed victory
