Philosophy With John O'Dowd
Hello I'm John O'Dowd, Sinn Féin's education spokesman, but oddly not Sinn Féin's education minister. Well actually it
makes perfect sense to me, because I have my own special philosophies, including thoughts on
"experts".
These supposed experts, or people
"with a high degree of skill in or knowledge of a certain subject"
are not people I think we should be listening to.
Where have experts got us in the past? Yes these so called experts invented rockets that got us to the moon and they
eradicated smallpox, but Christ, what have they done lately?
And who decides what an expert actually is? Who decided that experts are defined as having a high degree of knowledge
or skill? The people who wrote the dictionary, that's who. But hold on, who wrote the dictionary? That's
right – experts. Experts left to their own devices... of course they are going to define themselves in a really experty
manner! They're experts at that sort of carry-on.
Well I for one have had enough. It's time for politicians like me stand up for ourselves and tell these experts where to shove
their superior knowledge and skills. After all they have lied to us before; those dictionary wordy "experts" define a politician as,
"one who seeks personal or partisan gain, often by scheming and maneuvering".
Pah! Have you ever read anything so wrong!
So in conclusion, you might wonder why you should listen to any of my opinions, it's not like I'm an expert, but if you study my
teachings carefully enough you'll see that if you blithely accept what I say, then I'm right.
