Fans of the Maze 2012 bid were in tears today as arch rivals of the bid, London, were awarded the Olympic games.  Head of the bid Sadie Hasting Farquar was said to be crippled this afternoon due to a mixture of disappointment and rickets.  She was quoted as saying, "I can't believe that Lord Coe slept with me just to get our ideas for a fantastic games, that's the last time I do a 4x100 minute relay with his baton."

At the press conference she was also grilled on the fact that the Maze 2012 bid wasn't actually submitted to the IOC  Sadie retorted that, "One should never let facts get in the way of disappointment.  This was a disgraceful act of sectarian discrimination against Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland and we will be raising the matter with the Parades Commission."

She continued, "Bringing the Olympics here was an integral part of the Good Friday Agreement.  It was at the back, the last couple of pages, not everyone may have seen it because they ran out of paper, but I'm telling you, it was the deal breaker and they've screwed us again.  This time metaphorically.  This is a disgrace and we will be holding talks about a potential boycott of the 2012 games with Mr. Chirac.  We would do it on our own but no-one from Norn Iron is good enough to get into the games."
