BBC Politics Show Shows Political Bias?

BBC Politics Show It might be down to election fever, or it could be side effects from pig-flu, but for some reason we decided to check exactly how much time each European election candidate got during the Politics Show's big fun election debate – apparently the only televised debate there will be, those TV execs just don't know what TV gold they're missing...

Anyway, if you thought they would all get fair time, well you were wrong, Jim "Dimbleby" Fitzpatrick decided otherwise.  We'll let the figures speak for themselves, even though they were sloppily collected and are probably wrong, but fuck it, the BBC didn't make much effort over the whole affair either.

We estimated the 7 candidates talked for a total of 2845 seconds between them, or just over 47 minutes, with the rest of the show being dedicated to the most pointless audience voting seen on TV since You Bet! was cancelled.  Here's how the jibber-jabber broke down:

So as you can see, the BBC spent our license money giving the two wings of the DUP almost 50% of the whole time.  Furthermore, sitting MEP Babs Brown got a third of the time that the lovely Diane did, and combined with Allbran Maginness, nationalism got a mighty 25%.  Tut, tut, well at least they gave Stephen Agnew's lovely hair some air-time.

Meanwhile Bob McCartney got zero time, okay he isn't running, but let him on the TV for fuck sake, there's a recession on and we need a laugh.  Bob where are you?  You should have run!  You could have won all 3 seats!

Here's our numbers; time in seconds, although this pointless exercise felt like hours:

If you think you can do better, feel free, the show will be eternally preserved for your pleasure on the BBC iPlayer  (Note: eternity ends this Sunday).
